Wilmington area.David Clark GrimmerBURGAW — David Clark Grimmer, 49, left this earthly life for his eternal rest Thursday, April 13, 3017. He was born July 6, 1967, in New Hanover County and was the son of Elizabeth Piner Grimmer Kelly of Magnolia and the late Albert Grimmer.David graduated from Wallace Rose Hill High School, where he played football and won a full scholarship to Elon College and continued to play football. After he left Elon, he continued his education at James Sprunt in Kenansville.In addition to his loving mother and stepfather, Arnold Kelly, David is survived by his devoted wife, Angela Denise Johnson Grimmer of Burgaw; son, Ethan Clark Grimmer of California; brother, Kirk Alan Grimmer of Hampstead; stepdaughter, Brittany Marie Turner; stepbrother, Daniel Kelly and his wife, Mary; stepsister, Kim Kelly Miller, and her husband, Hill; paternal grandfather, Herman Piner, and his wife, Delphine, of Wallace; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Elaine Johnson of Wallace; brother-in-law, Robert N. ‘Bob’ Johnson of Virginia; sister-in-law, Valerie Rose Johnson of Wallace; aunts, Bertie Brown, and her husband, Hershall, of Jacksonville, Joyce Grimmer Matthews of New Bern and Annette Grimmer Hamilton, and her husband, Clyde, of Fayetteville; uncles, Tommy Matthews of Jacksonville, Johnny F. Grimmer of Fayetteville and Harry Grimmer, and his wife, Elise, of Charlotte; canine companion, Jake; and numerous cousins and friends.David was a loving husband and caring son and brother who loved his family dearly. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was spending time with family. With a great big heart, David would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.He was very athletic and enjoyed playing sports, especially football and baseball. Being an avid outdoorsman, he also loved fishing and hunting.David was a strong and courageous, yet, gentle man, who brought out the good in all those who were near and dear to him. Mr. Cigainero was born on June 21, 1948 in Fayetteville, AR, son of the late Harvey Leo Cigainero and Rosemary DeCoursey O’Grady Cigainero.Steve is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, Rhonda Cigainero, two children and their spouses: Brian/Brooke Cigainero, Mark/Hope Cigainero and one stepson, Matthew Best. Additionally, he has two granddaughters, Emmalee Cigainero and Kayla Rowland. He also leaves behind two sisters, Carol Tull and Jan Stoichev as well as one brother, Don Cigainero.Steve is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with the 199th Light Infantry Brigade “RedCatchers” ,49th Infantry Platoon Scout Dog.Steve retired from the Coca Cola Company in Atlanta, GA after 30 years of service. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and cutting wood. After retirement, Steve spent most of his time caring for his parents and enjoying every minute he had with his granddaughter, Emmalee, as well as being an avid beekeeper. Steve was a friend to many, a father and hero to two sons and a loving husband.Dad, thank you for the life lessons: the value of a firm handshake, being early, keeping your word, always use manners, a strong work ethic and above all else, respect.A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 2nd of March, 2017 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev.
